FasciaCap
InstallationFor 0°, 45°, and 90° — same steps
Welcome to GAPCAP™ — here's how to install your FasciaCap over a square-cut rim-joist corner for a professional, finished look on new or existing decks. The steps below work for every FasciaCap angle: 0°, 45°, and 90°.
Initial setup — square & flush
Install the fascia boards on the rim joist and cut the ends square and flush with the outside corner of the rim joists. Do not overlap or miter fascia-board ends — the FasciaCap is the corner.
Measure and mark
Measure the height of the fascia board you have installed. Cut the FasciaCap to match the height of the fascia if needed.
Position the FasciaCap
Install the FasciaCap with the cut end up, and align the outside corner with the TopCap above (or the outside corner of the deck boards above) — same approach whether it's a 0° end, a 45° miter, or a 90° corner. Plumb both faces before fastening.
Fasten the FasciaCap
- Secure the FasciaCap using typical composite deck-screw fasteners — correct size, color-matched to the cap.
- For best results, pre-drill through the FasciaCap holes with a 1/8" bit to ensure proper alignment.
- Use a drill to drive the screws below the FasciaCap surface and seat each screw so the plug has room to sit flush.
Plug and finish
Install the provided plugs and orient them to match the grain direction of the FasciaCap. Press the plug in by hand until it sits flush.
Quick tips for a professional finish
- Make sure the FasciaCap is aligned and plumb with the deck corner — both faces, top and bottom.
- Pre-drill for best results. The extra 30 seconds prevents the screw from wandering across the cap face.
- Use a small dab of clear silicone in the plug hole for long-term bond of the plug.
- If you're also installing TopCap above, set both before fastening — the two caps should read as a single continuous corner line.
